Cedar Falls Hocking Hills

Hike 18 of 52-Cedar Falls

During our trip to Hocking Hills, we were trying to hit the big items on the list for the kids to see and Hike 18 took us to Cedar Falls.  The falls is surrounded by cliffs, shallow pools of water and some smaller waterfalls.  It is truly an amazing place!  There has been a lot of rain in the past few weeks and the falls were flowing fast!  This is definitely one the kids will not forget!

Trails Hiked:

Cedar Falls Trail and George Overlook

Mileage:

Overall, with the two trails, we did an out and back and it was roughly 1 mile long. We were not on the George Overlook Trail too long.

Weather and Trail conditions:

We went about 10:30 am and the weather was in the mid 50's and sprinkling. The trail was wet from the rain the night before, but not too muddy.  The trail is very well traveled and easy to navigate.  Would recommend going during the week or early in the morning to avoid crowds.

Wildlife Seen:

None seen today.

Parking:

There is plenty of paved parking at the Cedar Falls entrance.

Restrooms:

Very nice set for restrooms at the Cedar Falls entrance. Kid friendly and they have running water (which is important to note, because not all restroom we run across have running water).

Gear:

Good set of footwear is a must!  There are lots of steps to go up and down, so hiking sticks/trekking poles would be good as well.

Nature Center and Activities:

No Nature Center at this location.
